The Gospel of Mary Magdalene: Why the Church Tried to Silence Her Voice
Buried, erased, and forgotten for 2,000 years, here’s what the Gospel of Mary really teaches, and why it threatened the entire religious system.
They didn’t want you to know about this book.
They buried it. Erased it. Silenced the voice of the woman who was closer to Jesus than any of the male disciples.
Why?
Because the Gospel of Mary teaches something that threatens the entire religious system:
👉 That truth lives inside you, not in a church.
👉 That suffering isn’t about sin, it’s about attachment to the material world.
👉 That guilt and shame are tools of control, not spiritual truths.
In this article, I’ll walk you through the key surviving chapters of this text, section by section, and show you what they didn’t want you to remember.
You can watch each video below and read the quote and simple breakdown.
Let’s begin.

“Peter said to Mary: ‘Sister, we know that the Savior loved you more than the rest of women. Tell us the words of the Savior which you remember.’” (Chapter 5:5–6)
The early church erased this text because it gave Mary Magdalene spiritual authority, and because it taught that truth lives inside you, not in religious systems.
This isn’t about religion. It’s about waking up to what they tried to hide.
Video 2 — Chapter 4:22–23
“Attachment to matter gives rise to passion. Against nature arises a disturbance in the whole body. Therefore I say to you: Be in harmony.” (Chapter 4:22–23)
Mary’s gospel teaches that suffering doesn’t come from sin, it happens when we get too attached to the physical world.
When we become consumed by the pull of money, status, fear, or external things, we lose our inner balance.
This was dangerous to the system, because a person who knows they can stay balanced and whole no matter what’s happening around them is not easy to control.
Video 3 — Chapter 4:26–31
“Desire said, ‘I didn’t see you fall, but now I see you rise. Why do you resist me, don’t you belong to me?’
The soul answered, ‘I saw you. You didn’t see me. I used you as a garment, you never owned me.’” (Chapter 4:26–28)
Mary’s gospel teaches that you are not your desires, your shame, or your past.
The part of you that watches your thoughts and feelings, that deeper self, is not owned by them.
A person who knows they are bigger than their thoughts cannot be trapped in guilt or shame.
That’s why this was erased.
Video 4 — Chapter 5:1–9
“Levi said to Peter, ‘If the Savior trusted her, who are you to reject her? Surely the Savior knew her well. That’s why he loved her more than us.’” (Chapter 5:9)
Mary was silenced, not because her message was false, but because it threatened the church’s power structure.
This happens again and again in history: anyone who teaches freedom gets attacked first.
Video 5 — Chapter 5:10–12
“Peter said to Mary, ‘Sister, we know the Savior loved you more than the rest of women. Tell us the words of the Savior which you remember, which you know, but we do not, nor have we heard them.’
Mary answered and said, ‘What is hidden from you I will proclaim to you.’” (Chapter 5:5–7)
Mary was respected, but also challenged.
Even those closest to Jesus struggled to accept that truth could come through her, not just the male leaders.
That’s why the system buried her words. Because if people knew truth could live within them, and didn’t require a church, the whole hierarchy would fall.
Video 6 — Chapter 8:10–11
“Mary said, ‘Where the mind is, there is the treasure.’ Then Peter said, ‘Did he really speak with a woman without our knowledge? Are we to turn around and all listen to her? Did he prefer her to us?’
(Chapter 8:10–11)
Peter couldn’t accept that Jesus would share wisdom with Mary. Because if truth lives in your mind and heart, not in religious rules, the control structure falls apart.
This is why the text was erased.
Video 7 — Chapter 9:1–4
“The Savior said, ‘All natures, all forms, all creatures exist in and with each other, and they will be resolved again into their own roots. For the nature of matter is dissolved into the roots of its own nature alone.’” (Chapter 9:1–4)
Jesus taught that all physical things return to their source. It means you don’t have to cling to this world, to status, or to fear.
You were never meant to be ruled by it, you were meant to remember that you are more than it. A person who lets go of fear cannot be controlled. That’s why they buried this teaching.
Video 8 — Chapter 9:5–9 (Closing)
“When Mary had said this, she fell silent, since it was to this point that the Savior had spoken with her. But Andrew answered and said to the brethren, ‘Say what you wish about what she has said. I, at least, do not believe that the Savior said this. For certainly these teachings are strange ideas.’ Peter also opposed her in regard to these matters and asked them about the Savior. Did he really speak in this manner with a woman and not openly to us? Are we to turn about and all listen to her? Did he prefer her to us?” (Chapter 9:5–9)
The very last scene of the Gospel of Mary:
The men doubting her. Trying to discredit her, not because she was wrong, but because they couldn’t handle the truth.
The system did the same thing to her voice for 2,000 years. But now it’s rising again, because truth doesn’t stay buried forever.
This is why they erased this text.
Because it taught that spiritual truth lives inside you. Because it taught freedom, not fear. Because it taught that no church, no institution, no man can stand between you and the truth.
That is what this space here is about, pulling back the curtain on what they didn’t want you to know. If you’d like to keep going deeper, subscribe below, there is much more to uncover.
Truth never stays buried.
